We’ve got
-Twilight
-True Blood
-Cirque Du Freak (sp?)
-The Vampire Diaries
Why are they so "In" right now? Teenage girls especially, are obsessed with vamps at the moment and i find it bizarre that they find what is suppose to be considered scary, sexy?!

they r mainly popular cuz of the characters.. like "Edward Cullen" lol
it has to do with them being dangerous i think. If you make something that is suppose to be dangerous romantic, its just addicting i think lol.
because of that thing called twilight, ever since stephanie made edward cullen and sexy vampires girls are hyping over it and they are becoming more frequent in the media is because it is what we know will make more money,so while twilights out say during shooting, they release another vampire movie/book all the teens will go and buy them all and drawl over them of course meaning A LOT of money in the industry, and things like vampire series were written a good 10 YEARS before twilight unlike the twilight fanatics seem to think about everyone ‘copying’ their beloved twilight, true bloods supposed to be for 18’s+, not aimed at teenagers at all and cirq du freak if the BEST proper vampire books, with real vampires, nott the shiny sparkly ones meyer created, read them and see if twilight beats that after, again these were written A LONG time before meyer even probably graduated, and if you read them you will see a lot of resemblences where meyer has obviously gotten ideas from
I only ever watch it because of the vampires - and no, NOT their hotness. I want to see how well they can fit into the role "vampires trying to cope" and honestly, none of them are good so far. Though your last two mentions I have yet to watch. I don’t like Kristen’s constant blinking and Anna Paquin’s gap bothers me on a level I thought never possible, haha.
I don’t think they’re scary or sexy. They’re just . . . fascinating.
And there’s tons more out there! Honestly, people have been into vampires for a long time. I’ve loved them since middle school, like fifteen years ago. But when Twilight came out, it brought vampires into the spotlight. It made money, which made people want to create more ideas and make money. So that’s why there’s like a Vampire Outbreak lol.
Personally, I’m loving it, but I can understand how people think entertainment centers around Vampires now, because in a way, it does. Sooner or later, it will pass and zombies will be the next big thing. There’s always a next big thing, and people just like what they like so it’s all good lol.
Vampire stories have always been popular. For example, Bram Stoker wrote Dracula in 1897 and it’s STILL selling today, not to mention Anne Rice’s pretty extensive vampire franchise.
There’s something romantic that some people see in vampire stories. Something sensual and primal about the hunter/prey dynamic and sharing of blood. Power, sensuality, everlasting life, shape-shifting… all of these vampiric characteristics make for some good stories.
i have personally always loved reading magical and unreal books. i love werewolves, vampires, wizards etc…long before twilight came out and before i had heard of any of them
btw true blood rocks !
Usually, the vampires appear in these stories like rich, very good-looking men, that appear firstly as bad boys that all women want to sleep with but inside they are some well-intentioned loving boys. It practically corresponds to the universal type of perfect man and that’s why it works so well. In addition, they also live forever and look good forever. The same cliche was adopted years ago by Sandra Brown and it worked perfectly to the average population, the target audience for this kind of ****
Bram Stocker’s book was very good in my opinion. It’s a classical story and I think it’s the first one introducing vampires in literature, based on a legend that still exists in those places (Transylvania). It is based on the myths and the folklore of a region. Anne Rice’s books aren’t that good literature in my opinion, but they stick to the idea that vampires, as most of any other normal or SF characters in literature, are made by light and dark and that the dark is stronger. When it says "I’m a monster" they really mean it.
St Meyer took all the legends, used no information and transformed it to a big cliche. Vampires that sparkle, that aren’t afraid of light, that can survive with the blood of animals and one of them reads minds - the last two things that are obviously taken from Interview with a vampire. But when something gets worse and loses its essence is when people get so excited. When there’s no message in something, no important conflict, when everything is so meaningless, they find it attractive because it becomes easy to read and because the characters, having nothing special, can be easily perceived by everybody
I know what you mean. Don’t worry, it happens every few years.
First it was Bram Stroker, Who was the first to create a charming, fast/strong, good looking immortal in I think 1897. Then it was someone in the 1940’s. Then Anne Rice’s ‘Interview with the vampire’ in the 70’s. Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Vampire Diaries in the 90’s. And now it’s Twilight. Soon it will pass over and there will be another vampire/immortal frenzy in the next 10-20 years.
Edward Cullen is just the ideal guy for every woman. Not myself, but for most. He is the rich, intelligent, hot, protective guy. Honestly, I think the character is psychotic and a stalker. Following Bella around in his mind when she is not in sight, and then watching her sleep. Creepy. Which is why I prefer my vampires to be these dark and evil blood sucking creatures. It’s how they’re meant to be. But Twilight it’s all about the forbidden love. The aspect is compelling, and it HAS been compelling ever since Romeo & Juliet. I don’t really like Twilight, it’s not exactly my cup of tea, but I did somewhat enjoy it and I at least have the damn decency to keep my opinion about it to myself. I have to say, the Twilight haters are JUST as bad as the overly obsessed twilighters.
Edit– Twilight certainly did NOT create the buzz. In this time, yes. It caused it. But Vampires have always been an interest.
It is because of Twilight. It created a lot of buzz in teenage girls, and well a lot of people followed in her footsteps and made more. Twilight is about a girl named Bella Swan who moves to Forks, Washington and falls in love with a vampire named Edward Cullen. Edward is very handsome, as are the rest of his "family". Edward doesn’t drink human blood, but others do so they are scary. It know it is a somewhat bad concept, but it was a OK book. But the love interest is what attracted teens.
its obviously twilight, but i thinks its more the film than the books and the actors like robert pattinson and yess hot! but some people are just deluded and think he is edward cullen. It really annoys me when girls change their name to cullen on their facebook name and stuff like that err get a life! I suppose people like them because most seem to have a love story in at the miniute, but some people need to get a grip on something called REALITY!
