Why are interracial relationships looked down upon?
I would like to know why so many people look down upon people who don’t wanna date within their race.
I’m a black male, and maybe it was just how I grew up or first impressions or something, but black girls just don’t do it for me.
I would prefer an asian( more specifically japanese) woman, but since they practically are non-exsistent in Louisiana, I just go for caucasian girls that are gothic (though I also like the girls that don’t act stuck up or anything)
The black girls that know me always say stuff as though I’m a freak for not wanting to go out with them, and while my white friends don’t seem to think much of it, why does my race have to get all riled?
Even my mom and aunt pester me saying that I need to find "a nice black woman" and I need to look harder for one.
Its not like I choose to be like this. I liked any girl regardless of race even when I was in elementary.
Since I wasn’t exposed to any racial bais or anything when i was little, I guess perceptions of ethnic maters don’t make sense to me.
So, I ask again, Why are interracial relationships looked down upon?
P.S. I’m 16, and I have actually had a few relationships that have worked, I even went out with a black girl before, but like I said, they just don’t do it for me.

its not a bad thing. its just about preserving cultures. imagine if everyone breeded with eachother theyred be no colours no cultures nothing. it may seem bad at first but its not. its hard to understand and im not racist. look ur 16

Because a lot of people are ignorant.
if your not still with the person the relationship failed silly
and they are looked down on bc people think we should "breed with our own kind"
I am very similar to you. I am a black teenager too, and my family always mentions how I should find a nice black girl. I find myself attracted to all races. There could be any number of reasons. Some people are racist, some overprotective and some still bitter over past events. I also have another theory, though it may not be the case. If a minority marries outside of their race, how can they really expand? It could stem from a widespread fear of remaining a minority for too long, if people continue to marry outside their race. Personally, I applaud you. Date who you want, as long as they treat you right.
You live in Louisiana - there’s your problem. I live in Chicago, and no one cares.
I look up to interracial couples. There was a time when interracial marriage was illegal. As a gay man, I can totally relate to their struggles with what the gay community is going through, fighting for our right to marry. It sucks being ahead of your time, but don’t let haters get to you.
Put it like this.
Picture a 27 year old black guy and his really hot 21 year old white girl. SMOKING body. They are Walking down the street arm in arm, laughing. Coming the other way down the street is guess who: old white man. 50. he’s walking hand in hand with some 42 year old white woman. Sure he can pretend she’s mature "fine wine" but a person can only pretend so much. Then he sees the black boy and white girl. He thinks "if I talk to her, I will be called names. She will diss me for being old . Young white boys will bash me too. But nobody minds that BLACK guy dating her Waaaaaaaaaaaaa! What happened to the days of lynching" so he gets mad and takes his frustrations out on an underage 12 year old.
