I loved the 90’s! Ok, I was born in 88, but I was still a "child of the 90’s"! I just think the 90’s were cool because it was the end of a millenium and the big finalé of the 20th Century of discovery; invention and modern life as we know it! It was the beginning of computers/Microsoft/Internet, the sort of technology we take for granted today & most of all, it was historical: the end of a millenium of evolution and discovery (electricity; technology; cars; planes; etc.) & the start of a new era and millenium - the 21st Century! Here are the top 5 reasons I’m proud to be a child of the 90’s: (anyone agree?)

1) INTERNET! YAY!!! Internet was invented in 1991 & thanks to Bill Gates/Microsoft & the likes, we’re online right now & will be for yrs to come! Lapotp’s and Computers were officially developing in the 90’s!

2) Film: Jumanji; Schindler’s List; American Beauty (1999); Titanic; Edward Scissorhands; Saving Private Ryan; Ghost; My Left Foot; Pretty Woman; A Few Good Men; Forrest Gump; The Silence Of The Lambs; Basic Instinct; Groundhog Day; The English Patient; Natural Born Killers; Mrs. Doubtfire; Four Weddings and a Funeral; The Fugitive; Pulp Fiction; True Lies; Speed; Independence Day; Liar Liar; The Shawshank Redemption; Leaving Las Vegas; Interview With The Vampire; Braveheart; Tomorrow Never Dies; Mission Impossible; Golden Eye; Trainspotting; Twister; The First Wives Club; A Time To Kill; As Good As It Gets; Hook; Misery; Deep Blue Sea; Men In Black; The Lost World; There’s Something About Mary; Scream; LA Confidential; Ace Ventura; Batman; Elizabath; Armageddon; The Matrix; Shakespeare In Love; Run Lola Run; The Phantom Menace; The Lion King; Eyes Wide Shut; The Sixth Sense; Sleepy Hollow; The Blair Witch Project; The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring; The Mummy & the dawn of CGI & animatronic films such as Babe; Antz; A Bugs Life & of course, Toy Story! The 90’s was the birth of Special Effects as we know them today & stars such as Julia Roberts; Johnny Depp; Leonardo DiCaprio; Reese Witherspoon; Tim Burton; Kate Beckinsale; Cate Blanchett; Catherine Zeta Jones; Pierce Brosnan; Ben Stiller; Jim Carrey; Owen Wilson; Kristin Scott Thomas; Helen Hunt; Hugh Grant; Ewen McGregor; Nicole Kidman; Halle Berry; Neil Jordan; Danny Boyle; Adam Ball; Kate Winslett; Uma Thurman & Will Smith all kick-started their careers in the 90’s - what a decade for Film!!!

3) Music: Tina; Jacko; Céline; Whitney; Bon Jovi; Madonna; U2; Shaniah; Garth; The Stones; Nirvana; Janet; Boys II Men; Annie Lennox; Sting; Pavarotti; Chér; Bryan Adams; Aerosmith; The Prodigy & Prince were all alive & kickin’ during the 90’s, with Kylie; The Spice Girls; Bjork; Justin; Mariah; Alicia; Beyoncé; Westlife; Boyzone; Robbie WIlliams; Take That; Oasis & Alanis Morissette all kicking off their careers! Songs such as Chér’s "Believe"; "My Heart Will Go On" (Céline Dion/Titanic); Madonna’s "Vogue"; "Live & Let Die (Guns N’ Roses); "I Will Always Love You" (Whitney Houston); Elton John’s "Candle In The Wind"; "That’s The Way Love Goes" (Janet Jackson); "Hero" & "One Sweet Day" (Mariah Carey); Aerosmith’s "I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing"; "Simply The Best" (Tina Turner) & Michael Jackson’s "Black Or White" were all anthems of the 90’s too!

4) T.V.: FRIENDS!!!; Seinfeld; The Simpsons; Ricki Lake; Have I GOt News For You; Suddenly Susan; The Big Breakfast; E.R. & Baywatch were all born in the 90’s!

5) Historical People & Events: Sydney Olympics (lead-up to it); Harry Potter; Dolly The Sheep; Riverdance; Bill & Hill; Nelson Mandella’s Release; Daeth of Freddie Mercury & Kurt Cobain (R.I.P.); Birth of the DVD; Mobile/Cell Phones; Apollo Space Missions; Death of Princess Diana (R.I.P.); Collapse of the Berlin Wall; Venus & Serena; Pete Samprass; David Beckham; Tim Henman; Birth of "The Sims"; Opening of Disneyland Paris; Michael Jordan; Mount St. Helens; Tiger Woods; Cindy Crawford; Hubble Space Telescope; Reality T.V.; Opening of Channel Tunnel; The Euro; New Year’s Eve 1999 & the most brazen, amazing, thrilling, stupendous & hillarious thing of the 1990’s:………………………………

So, who agree’s the 90’s KICKED ***???

What are some really good vampire novels?

Background info: I like Buffy and Interview with the Vampire; I HATE Twilight; I like really well-written, character-driven novels; it can be a romance-type novel as long as it’s not totally cheesy; it can be any rating from G to NC-17; and preferably no high school vampire crap.

Vampire are supposed to be cool like the ones from the Blade movies, or the Underworld movies, or Interview With The Vampire. The vampires from the Twilight movies are so lame!!!!

Who would love to see Blade the Vampire Hunter come and kill Edward Cullen?

So, who agree’s the 90’s KICKED ASS???

What is your favorite fictitious male personality
according to a movie that you have watched?
Taking away looks and just focusing in personality.
Mel Gibson as William Wallace in "Brave Heart?
Brad Pitt as Louis in “Interview with the vampire”?
etc, etc.

I’m just curious because if there is please tell me the title and author of the book or name of the movie. Because, if not then I am going to write one. This has been bugging me, literally for years.. I desperately need to know. I just thought I’d ask on here.

I am an obsessed vampire freak, ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always wanted to meet a real one, possibly become one if they truly exist. And, I’ve read almost every single vampire book/comic I’ve ever got my hands on, or heard about. Seen almost every vampire movie out there, as well.

Big fan of Anne Rice, who wrote: "Interview with the Vampire", "The Vampire Lestat", "Queen of the Damned", among other books. L.J. Smith, who wrote: "The Vampire Diaries", Stephenie Meyer, who wrote: the "Twilight" series, Darren Shan, who wrote: "Cirque Du Freak"..Among many other authors I don’t have time to list them all. I think the very first vampire movie I ever saw was either Bram Stoker’s Dracula, The Lost Boys, or Near Dark.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

I remember seeing the end of it on HBO. It had these two guys and one of them staked the sleeping vampire, who screamed. Then they set the whole town on fire with gasoline, and drove out of town on a jeep. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Guys,

Lost Boys came out in 1987, and Interview with the Vampire came out in 1994. Come on people, can you not read? I said EARLY 80’s! Get with it!

what is your favourite film ever ?

mine has got to be interview with the vampire

and i love anything with vampires in or fantasy movies !

My favourite authors are Tolkien, Jordan, George r r martin and Goodkind. I like LoTR for its epic characters and adventure settings. Jordan for the same and memorable characters, martin for the great battle scenes and historical stuff. And Goodkind for his romance and bravery in the story.

Give me something that well make me extremely satisfied in the end and makes me cry like LoTR when Frodo FINALLY threw the ring into the volcano. Also, I want thicker books because it feels worth it when i finish them.

***Please don’t tell me HP or Twilight or any other chicky vampire fanfictions. I read Dracula of course and Interview with the vampire.
i extremely dislike stuff like vampire academy.

MY MAIN POINT IS PLEASE GIVE ME SOMETHING LITERAL.

Harry Potter is ok but just a bit dull though. I want something ADVENTUROUS.

Thanks and good luck!!
Don’t tell me Eragon or Shannara because they are rip-off of The Lord of the Rings.

What are some movies I might like?

I enjoy movies like: The Ring, 30 Days of Night, Sweeney Todd, The Prestige, Phantom of the Opera, Van Helsing, and Interview with the Vampire.

What movie(s) should I rent?
Oh, I really enjoyed The Secret Window, and 1408, as well.

the pictures in 'interview with the vampire'?

ok, in the movie ‘interview with the vampire’ there is a scene in which kirstin dunst’s character is drawing paintings while on the boat with brad pitt (escaping the fire which tom cruise ‘dies’ in). they flip over about 4 pictures and i was just wondering if they were like famous pieces of work or just ones that were quickly whipped-up for the film. have wondered this since i first saw it years ago and saw it again the other night and am quite interested to know.

Some people seem to assume that all stories about vampires, or vampire like creatures are a rip off of Twilight. There were plenty of vampire books before Twilight, but nobody ever says "Oh, Twilight is a rip off of Interview with the Vampire." or any other vampire story.

I have seen plenty of people on Y!A with good ideas for vampire stories, but a lot have people have told them they were unoriginal if for no reason but the fact that the story contained vampires.

I have spent weeks creating this race of creatures (Cruenti), and although they have similarities to vampires, they are nothing like the Cullens. Even so, I have had people tell me that I need to get some originality and that everything is too similar to Twilight.

Why wont some people accept that not all vampire stories are like Twilight?

What is the name of this vampire movie?

It’s a fairly recent foreign film featuring a little girl as a creepy vampire.

Also, if you have seen it, what were your thoughts on it?
Interview with the Vampire was an old movie and not foreign at all. This one was European I believe with English subtitles and the girl is brunette and the majority of the cast from what I could tell of the trailer is little kids.

My favourite authors are Tolkien, Jordan, George r r martin and Goodkind. I like LoTR for its epic characters and adventure settings. Jordan for the same and memorable characters, martin for the great battle scenes and historical stuff. And Goodkind for his romance and bravery in the story.

no roleplaying fantasy books please. They make me sick.

Thanks and good luck!!

P.S Don’t tell me Eragon or Shannara because they are RIP-OFF of The Lord of the rings.

Would like to find some good vampire books to read. I love vampire novels. I googled and got some like, Covenant of the Vampire and the rest of that series, I know Ann Rice has her series that started with Interview with the Vampire. There’s also I, Vampire by Michael Romkey along with the rest of that series. I just don’t want to read something "cheesy" I’d rather not waste money like that since I’ll need it for gas :) Let me know what anyone thinks is a good INTERESTING vampire book, series, whatever.

And I’ve already read all 4 books by Stephenie Meyers which I througly enjoyed!

Any suggestions of other films that I might enjoy?

What was the vampire Lestat?

I’ve only read "Interview with the Vampire," and a chapter or two of "The Vampire Lestat." Lestat is obviously attracted to women. Is his love for Louis platonic or romantic or sexual or what? I’ve also heard readers say that Lestat is a genderless character.

What is your interpretation of him?

(Lestat (c) Anne Rice.)

Great semi-scary/thrilling movies?

I want to find movies that are semi-scary/thrilling, but not too horrifically scary for halloween. Here are some examples of the movie that are similar to what I am looking for and what I am not looking for:

Similar in scariness to:
-The Lost Boys
-Interview with the Vampire
-Sweeney Todd:The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
-Sleepy Hollow
-Secret Window

Not Like:
-Halloween
-The Grudge
-The Ring

As a bookworm, for me, films rarely match up to original book, but I even I admit there are times when the film turns out to be better than the book. A lot of people I now say this is the case for Holes, but personally, I thought the film did not do the book any justice. One exception, however, is Interview With Vampire. I caught the film on TV after hearing high praise for Anne Rice’s work, and thought it could hardly be worse than Twilight. (Just for the record, I don’t hate Twilight (well, except for books two and four) but I wasn’t exactly blown away by it either.) Anyway, I was totally captivated by Interview With the Vampire, but after waiting months for a copy of the book, I found I was severely disappointed. The main character did far too much reflection and deliberation, the action scenes lacked punch, and whilst it had its moments, the format and dense nature of the book made it hard to digest. Don’t get me wrong I’m not some ignorant person who doesn’t appreciate good literature. I tried, and muddled through tot he end, but still did not enjoy it. Were there any movies which you thought matched up to the book, or were superior?
When answering, please try to explain your opinions and elaborate rather than just giving the name of the film/book.

What is your favorite Vampire movie?

I love Interview with the vampire and lost boys

Whats a really scary film?

I’ve seen loads of films that are meant to be scary but not one of them are scary, Ive watched:
Hostel 1 & 2
Nightmare on elm street films
Dracula
Interview with the vampire
Friday 13th films
Scream 1,2 &3
Scary movie 1,2,3 &4
The ring
the grudge
Stigmata
Childs play

And Loads more but they just don’t seem to bother me at all, however there was 1 film that scared the hell out of me which was the film "The Others" with Nicole Kidman. Kind of things that would possibly scare me are ghosts or spirit based things so any idea’s?

What is a good vampire movie?

I like foreign and American films :)
Here are some I’ve already watched:
Let the Right One In, Dracula (MANY versions), Interview with the Vampire, Queen of the Damned, Vampire Journals, Paris, Je T’aime (not really a vampire movie but has a vampire scene), Vampire Hunter D (1 & 2), Van Hellsing, Underworld, Lost Boys… and a couple others. Any suggestions? (Please, no Twilight. That doesn’t fall under the category of a "good" vampire movie.)
