Does anyone know of any good vampire story settings? I read Twilight, by Stephenie Meyers, and i wanted somewhere like Forks..rainy…gray..but i couldn’t think of anywhere…Help?

I’m writing a vampire story for my two best friends, because they loved Twilight and they told me they’d like to read something similar. I’ve also read Twilight even if I didn’t like it that much.

The story is about a 17 year-old girl from Cluj-Napoca, Romania named Lorien. She’s an orphan, except for her brother, who lives in Bucharest, so she lives alone in Cluj with a roommate, even if they don’t really get to see each other because of their schedule.
After classes she works in a small library, where she meets Loki, a 76 year-old pure-blood vampire. At first Loki tries to flirt with her but they soon become good friends, both going to the same high school, even if Loki clames he’s a year older than Lorien.
Lorien has a very quiet personality but she often acts before thinking, just like Loki, thing that made the vampire a few enemies. His conflicts with two vampires from another clan puts them both in danger, to the point that one night, 14 vampires from that clan attack them, Loki telling Lorien to run.
Morgan is a 237 year-old vampire from a small clan in Cluj, which Loki’s father, the leader of Loki’s clan hired him to protect Loki from the vampires who wanted to kill him.
Morgan and a few other vampires from his clan manage to take down the vampires, Loki being badly injured. While the others take Loki to his father, Morgan runs after Lorien. He finds her being attacked by three more vampires, badly injured too. To save her from dying he decides to turn her into a vampire.
In the end Loki dies and Morgan is left to take care of Lorien, because he was her "father", the one who turned her.
This would have been an easier thing if Lorien wouldn’t look so much like Jillian, Morgan’s fiance back when he was human, who died the day Morgan was turned.
After a few months, Lorien and Morgan (as a couple now) go to Bucharest, to Lorien’s Brother’s wedding. One night, they go for a walk, only to have the surprise to meet Jillian, now a vampire, too.
Lorien goes back to Cluj with the first train and packs her things, deciding to leave the Scarlet House, the clan’s house. She takes the first plane out of Romania, to Valencia, Spain…and the rest I still don’t know

The story will be divided in three parts: First from when she meets Loki to the night she became a vampire, second from her rebirth as a vampire ’till Jillian makes her appearance and third from her departure to her returning to Cluj, to find Jillian dead and her clan broken apart.

Sorry for my bad english and to make you read all this, but tell me what you tink to Stella: Loki is a pureblood (a very young one) and purebloods are like nobles to vampires, being so rare. He’s used to have everything he wants. He’s a spoiled brat. He’s going to school mostly for fun and to annoy Morgan, who feels weak in sunlight, being older.

Does anyone know an example of a Vampire story that is described in the third chapter of "How to Read Literature Like a Professor"?

Would you read a story like this and does it sound like any other vampire book?

She finds out he’s not as bad as she thought while he becomes jealous of her wealth and lifestyle, which is where his life’s goals change, and he becomes devious. She doesn’t realize he’s a vampire and he doesn’t know her father is a vampire hunter. She recognizes one of the characteristics of a vamp and figures out he’s one, but doesn’t tell him. She becomes attracted to him because of this information; he’s not in love with her, but he uses her to get what he wants. Granted, he’s not ugly, but not many people are attracted to dirty people, haha, and he’s very seductive because he needs to drink the blood of victims who wouldn’t otherwise trust him. But, he’s very attractive when he’s cleaned up.

The boy accidentally finds out that her father is a vampire hunter and begins to hate the girl and her family, and he’s shocked to realize that she already knew he was a vampire. He wants to kill her father before the father brings more vampire hunters to town and kills the boy’s family. The boy plans with his family (mother and child sister) and a nearby vampire coven to kill the vampire hunter. Also, he learns through the girl a lot of information about how hunters hunt vampires, so he helps prepare the other vampires. The girl is still in love with him, but she won’t help him kill her father, but she tries to stop her father from killing the boy. She puts her life in danger to stop the boy from being killed. In the end I’m thinking about having him kill her because his hate for humans has grown a lot since meeting her, much of it out of jealousy that she lives a free and prosperous life, while his rich family has to live like poor people in the city sewers, and he also wants to make the vampire race strong again because he begins to believe that they should regain their rightful place at the top of the food chain.

Since the boy’s little sister is 7, she’s unable to control her vampires urges at that young age and she ends up accidentally killing the girl’s little sister, who is about the same age, but no one finds this out; they think she was kidnapped and killed. This part happens before the boy and girl get to know each other, so no connection is made.
I meant to say that in my vampire world humans still think vampires are a myth. The girl’s family is rich because the father trains vampire hunters and he also anonymously writes conspiracy theory books regarding vampires and has a huge fan following. Vampires are not as strong as they used to be due to years of hunting, and that’s why they’ve gone into hiding. My vamp eventually wants make his race powerful again, that becomes his new goal. In the end, the girl will find out that she was naive with not listening to her father and that all vampires should be staked - no matter what.
@Brittney and U-know - I don’t know what you’re talking about. Do you have specific text to reference? They get to know about each other over the course of the book. Her father has taught her everything he knows about vampires. The reason she doesn’t recognize he’s a vampire right away is because she’s doesn’t take her father’s advice seriously and doesn’t think vampires are a threat, so she doesn’t feel the need to actively look for signs; the signs of a vampire aren’t obvious. I’m sorry they don’t sparkle, lol.

@Noell - Why don’t you just say "OMG! He’s a vampire. It’s Twilight, get your own ideas!" It’s not like he saves her from a car crash. In fact, he’s just as likely to die as she. Originality is what lies within the details of the plot, not the idea; there’s a difference and Meyers doesn’t own the idea of someone getting hit by a car…Oh, wait, bella doesn’t get hit by a car.

Human/vamp love is common in vamp romance novels. Sookie, Dark Lover, and many others. I like it.
Well, I’m glad I’ve never read the Darren Shane saga, lol. I could have had my vamp living in an alley, but I got the sewer idea after watching a news show about homeless people who live in the sewers of Las Vegas.

Well, boy meets girl isn’t anything new to novels. It’s in every romance novel I’ve ever read, and I read a lot of romance. Forbidden love like in Twilight is in most adult vamp romance novels, so Twilight wasn’t the first and won’t be the last, and I like forbidden love. You’ll ALWAYS find archetypes amongst novels of the same genre, and vampire/paranormal is no different, so I’m not surprised that you can pick out commonalities between my plot and those of other vampire novels, there are commonalities in every vampire novel on the market.

Interesting responses. I asked this question earlier telling them I wanted to write an ode to Twilight and was told this was nothing like Twilight, lol. I agree with them. I think some of the answers didn’t read the plot.

I remembered this book had a blue cover and mentioned some castle, a battle talking about Vlad and the manner he impaled his victims. There is also a magical sword in this castle and the protagonist was somesort of a visitor to this castle. This is not Bram Stoker’s versin though.

Would you read a story like this and does it sound like any other vampire book? A couple of things: 1) At least read the whole thing before you respond. 2) You’re an obsessed Twilight fan if you think every vamp novel is a Twilight knock-off. 3) I’m not looking for menial similarities between what I’ve written and other novels. If you read a lot, as some claim, then you’ll know that every novel of the same genre carry the same archetypes, themes, and ideas. The story takes place in the 1800s, it’s about a royal vampire family (very fancy), who have been fighting off the lycans (wolf men) for centuries, and finally the parents of the family get kidnapped by them, and all the children have to save them. It needs a lot of editing but take in mind its just my first draft out probably 50 drafts lol.

My plan is (It may sound like twilight but the book will not) to have a young girl maybe around 18. She meets a vampire (wont give to much info), he kidnaps her and she finds away to escape.

Almost a year later he finds her and goes to kill her but then kisses her instead.

They fall in love but the vampire is consistently trying not to eat her
and the relation ship if you will call it gets messy. after all his a vampire and she is a human.

The story is set in both 1800’s and modern days telling the story of the modern day Dracula and his son who were once cannibalizes. They curse there death when a bounty hunter catches up with them and that is how vampires are born.

I know i explained the plot a bit tacky but im hoping for a original one time story. (except the fact that vampires are not original. I’m trying to bring back the terrors in vampires even tho there is some love in it.

It might sound like a love story but it has more betrayal, death and history.

I’m looking for older sounding names. Latin in particular. I haven’t found much yet, except for the obvious: Damian, Gabriel, Cristiano, Anastasia, Victor, Bella, and so on. Names that haven’t been seen or used for a long time would be sufficient.

Okay, I’m writing a vampire story (nothing like Twilight, might I add. It’s not a love story at all). In the story, there are two rival covens that are bent on destroying eachother. One is called the Arcadian coven (i named it after the mythical city Arcadia, city of peace), but i can’t figure out a name for the second coven. Can anyone help me with it?
