This is my first article for our school newspaper, so I just wanted to share it so a few people could give me varied opinions. Constructive criticism only please. Thank you and I hope you enjoy it.

Are These Our Typical Vampires?

With our new fad of vampires and all of the mystical creatures that come along, you have to wonder where did the idea come from? Did it start with Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight? Or was The Count from Sesame Street the first "real" vampire? Well to find the answer to all of our questions we will have to look back to the times when the vampire legend was first told.

It all began in the early 19th century, although the term "vampire" was not yet used, it was told that they visited loved ones and caused mischief or deaths in the neighborhoods they lived in when they were alive. These vampires were told to have pale skin with dark features and fangs so big they stuck out of their mouths. These tales terrified people so much that it led to a large-scale panic in Europe. During this time many people died from "copycats" pretending to be vampires. It was told that garlic or "holy water" were the only protection from vampires. At this time many people decorated their houses with garlic and started growing it in their fields. Soon after the attacks stopped and people assumed it was do to the garlic and holy water spread through out their homes. Ever since this happened vampires have been feared.

That is until now, yes the vampire movie Dracula came out and then we all they were cheesy characters of myth. But now as they are being told as heartfelt, and not to mention good looking characters that we have all fallen in love with. These vampires seem to be new and improved. Their looks are written and described as flawless. And their character is alarmingly human like, some vampires even sweeter and more compassionate. Although there is the exception of the bad apple vampires. As we were introduced to these new kind of vampires we learned we love them more and more. Is it because at first the new topic was refreshing? Or maybe it is because we all love a good romantic adventure. No one will really know. But what we do know is that these vampires, although we are very fond of them, are not our typical vampires. Although books like Twilight, The House of Night, and television series like Cold Blood are making millions of dollars these vampires are not scary and that is what made them vampires back in the day of the legends and folktales.

Hi I’ve played the game Dracula origin and I really liked it. Does anybody know any other games similar to this one? It could be anythig gothic/ victorian/ vampire/ etc. And I dont like when you have to fight too much, a little bit is ok, but not too much, like as if the game is just all about fighting. Dracula origin was just a puzzle game with point/click and I thought it was going to be lame but it was really good

It seems like in a horror genre, there are way too many vampire films. Should Hollywood find another monster or stick with the same ol bloodsucking Dracula?

i need to draw out a gothic fairy costume because i’m creating it myself and i suck at drawing fairies. are there some good websites out there where they teach you how to draw fairies. it doesn’t even have to be goth just a base so i can start out with. thank you so much.

Ok, so I’m not completely sure, but I remember seeing something to do with it like years ago. It was a horror film and all of mother gooses nursery stories were like evil and distorted and I think I remember something about these teenagers being attack by them. Like they got lost and were going through each of the distorted and evil versions of the tales. I swear I remember seeing a trailer like years back XD Please help

I’m tring to find these materials to make my costume. I’m planing on being a Hybrid of a vampire and a Werewolf. For the vampire I need a cape or trench coat, very cool vampire teeth, some really cool contacts to make my eyes look like they’re yellow. Now for the Werewolf I need. A bushy wig, claw gloves. If anyone knows where I can get those at some stores for a good price thank you. Please help me.

so i told my friends i will tell them the scariest stories ever!! and i want to make it a joke and tell the really BAD really STUPID stories that are not scary. something that sounds scary at the start but its stupid and dumb at the end!

My sister and I can’t the names of a vampire-story book series from the 90s.

One of the characters was named Elena, and there are two vampire brothers that fight over her. It takes place in maybe Falls Church, Oregon? It was a young adult book series.

Okay seriously I love Twilight Vampire diaries The vampires assistant and etc. but like some of the people on here are writing novels that some of them aren’t good. i think you should have more experience. ya it would be cool if a young kid writes a book but don’t just start it.

Trust me i’ve had experience writing a novel and it took me over a year just to edited change everything. I swear i rewrote my story probably over 10 time perfection takes time and money.

But that’s just my opinion. i know i read this good one that i read on here. I just would like to know your opinion too?

Im ordering scarecrow vampire fangs, I did want the small subtle fangs. But I couldnt find a Uk website that sold them. So I decided to get the classic vampire fangs. I was wondering if anyone had them, what are they like? Are they too big? Rating out of 10? And just general comments on them. I would like to wear my fangs when I go out etc… So I was wondering are they too big and will I look stupid. And what teeth do they go on?
